Being intelligent, careful and very respectful towards human, Jusa is extremely easy companion. Except when I'm trying to work with him. If the mission is a bit too easy - he's not interested. If the mission is a bit too hard - he's not interested. If I keep repeating things (sometimes asking him to do same thing twice is considered over-repeating) - he's again not interested. Not to mention the days he isn't interested in listening my orders anyway. He just glimpses me shortly over his shoulder with the expression "ignore" written on his face. Why do I still bother? Because if all the demands are fulfilled - the job is challenging but not extremely difficult - and he's having a good day, he is really the culmination of pleasure to work with. He does everything I'm asking with a magnificent speed, wagging his tail and a smile on his face, and you really don't have to know dogs to tell that he loves what he is doing. They say that training a dog is a good way to make him use his brain. Well, in our case I'm the one who does thinking multiple times more than he while figuring out what to do today, how to do it, what to use as reward and would it be better just to let it be for today. But believe me, it's assuredly all worth it.

Most of the time Jusa however is the sweetest dog anyone can imagine. Even my mother who is a bit shy with dogs has the courage to take toys from his mouth while playing. Unfortunately he isn't as easy going with other dogs. He is very dominant towards other young males, and for some reason he just can't stand German shepherds at all. Although Jusa would get fine along with older, self-confident boys as well as with girls, we usually visit the dog parks in our own company anyway, just to make it sure. He already has one small scar on the back of his nose after rather strict discussion he had with my friend's German pinscher male.

Jusa is the most intelligent dog I have met. Not only he learns everything very quickly, he is also very good at solving problems and making his own conclusions. He tend to bark when he hears steps behind our apartment door, so when Hannu came home after an evening-shift late in the evening, we made a deal that he calls to my GSM. The idea was that I would just hang up the phone and take control of the dogs to avoid barking. Let's mention that neither dog cares of the sound of my phone. However, on the third evening when my phone started to ring, Jusa jumped up from the couch he was sleeping, ran in front of the door and started to bark. "Hey, everybody, daddy is coming home!" Do I need to tell that we didn't continue this method any further? Jusa knows how to open doors and zippers, and learned these not-so-wanted skills by himself at the age of 5 months. Most of the words he knows he has also learned by himself, without me even trying to teach them. It's really difficult to describe his way of thinking, it's something you should see by yourself. He's really something you could say being "like a human's mind".

And as if this wouldn't be enough, Jusa is good-looking too. Because of his cryptorchidism we can't get any official critiques for him, though. I like his appearence very much anyway. Especially his head is beautiful, and not the least because he is so clever using his considerable large ears and vivid expressions on his face to show his feelings. My friend once said that "red-nosed dogs just don't look good... except Jusa, who has so beautiful head that the color of his nose is forgiven." Although I don't pay that much attention to the color of the noses, I have to agree that because of his head he could be forgiven quite a lot. ;-)

Thank you, Britt-Marie. I got so much more than I ever wished for, when getting Jusa to my home.
